hi all,
drupal newb on the northside (within earshot of Wrigley). looking to meet pros and see more of what Drupal can do. completed a great screenshare training with Doug Vann as well as CDMUG meeting at Duo. installed one drupal site and (full disclosure) bailed to Wordpress (sorry - couldn't get the Nivo Slider to budge!)!
would be glad to exchange writing / theming for learning opportunities with user accounts, payments, and other cool drupal stuff. or, just to meet up and make connections!

I can't really welcome you to the Chicago group but I can welcome you to the larger Drupal community!
Somehow I missed that you were in UpTown. I used to live one block East of Wilson & Sheridan streets. Man I miss Chicago in so many ways... oh well....
I see your user acct is under a month old. At some point, we were all under a month old. You're in a GREAT town to get involved with Drupal. I'm glad you caught last month's meetup. Don't miss the next one. For that matter don't miss any of them! lol
Slurpee has whipped up something quite amazing in that town. I've been to many meetups across many sities and I've never seen such large and dedicated crowds like I see in Chicago. Granted I haven't been EVERYWHERE, but still. I gotta believe Chi is somewhat unique. It's the perfect resource for you. When I was in my beginning stages of Drupal I didn't have a local group, so I started one in January of 2008. It rocked pretty hard for a while, then we discovered that we have more of a hobbyest community in this town than we do dedicated, hardcore Drupalers who want Drupal to be their career. We went beyond the basics & quickly lost many of the hobbyests. We've had a few resurgences, and we're kind of in one now.
You're in a town where ppl are making an excellent living at this stuff. Stay close to them and learn from them!
I enjoyed our 1on1 training. You know where I am if you need more! ;-)
