Currently we start this group as the fist step to get organized. We know there need to be a knowledge base for the country-managers to know how to work, this is planed to be part of the intranet. Still working in a Drupal spirit we should think of a more interactive intranet where we can have a pjn-community building. So, several questions arise:

my own opinion
Let me give my own opinion on the questions as a starter.
I think this group is a good channel for Drupal to pjn. Maybe we should shift the purpose of this group once the intranet is operational, maybe the group should become open tackle some more drupal specific questions than. It may be a bit to confusion to have to much development discussion on the intranet.
I have been looking at several cms and how they work with there community, I think we can learn much about how they do it, we should have the similar basic setup forums, news, etc. The real question will be what kind of forum-containers will be needed, how we organize the news etc.
As long as the intranet is starting up we really should work with volunteers and contributions by the whole community, this should be a portal that helps the pjn-people so they should support is.
Process
I think I understand the process outlined above and agree. It's not a good idea to divide forums too early. Eventually it will be necessary to seperate the drupal development topics from the country managers community about practice, but not yet. And both of these can be called part of the intranet if they are private password protected areas visible only to people directly contracted within the PJN company.
If it is decided to enable two or more forums for the microjobs providers and pajamaworkers - as I would expect - then these would be outside of the "intranet" even if not fully public (Because its a subscription for access service )
The specific area of designing and facilitating spaces for communities is my own specialism and I would have plenty to say about that. Keeping it simple is a great way to start and carry on. Subscription by email is essential so that new messages can go straight to people's inboxes instead of them having to visit the site to check, but drupal caters for that pretty well - that's how I'm here exactly now. One discussion space ( flow) and one repository ( stock) is the minimum requirement and can be the maximum as well if possible. With my own biases, I'm not convinced that the drupal 'Book' module is as usable as a wiki, and my preference is for mediawiki but a socialtext, PBwiki or WikiSpaces could be used in the first instance, while the structures are still evolving.

keeping track of the major parts
I suggest we keep this group alive with the modules/parts that need implementation and how to handle them... After all, the point is to get the community involved in the creative process. All the more specific and technical mombo jombo is perhaps better managed in a Wiki indeed.
Intranet.
To be clear, by Intranet do you mean the structures of data which will be shared within the Pajamanation community (Jobs, bids, etc) or am I unclear?

I really would like an answer.

well ...
For me its unclear. Like mostly I normally waits until any one else gives a reaction so I can figure out what it is about.
Maybe this will give you some answer. The basic idea of the intranet is to have information for the country manager. Still we probably have a tool that can do way more. So this tread is to ventilate some ideas and thoughts. Just write down how you see it and we can have a more interactive discussion.
What kind of intranet?
I don't really know, what do you mean under the word intranet. A traditional intranet is not community based. They are to help the managers and administers with ToDo (or for GTD fans NextSteps), wiki for knowledgebase, addressbook, forum.
If you want a community portal, for workers and companies, we shouldn't call it as a intranet, because it helps to the masses, not the managers.

After talk with Boris
I had a talks with Boris yesterday and he pointed out that the groups.drupal policy is to have very general and open groups. Now as PJN is a commercial enterprise and very specific it may be best to move to our own discussion site. One intention of creating this group was to see if it is useful to have a discussion space, well clearly it does. I'll just put one up this weekend, like always it will be easily to adapt it along the way.
How did it go?
Just wondering where the discussion site will be, since this one is kind of suspended.

welll ... sad to say
The plan for a drupal version of pjn has been aborted. There will be no funding for such a project, as every one is so busy I'm not sure if this group has a future. Never the less I'm still interested in the phenomena using drupal for home working facilities. seeing all the tools on the web I think drupal can get us there.
Currently I'm still working on group features and access restrictions, but my interest in e-commerce has been growing. How ever as my whole Dupal work is a hobby I may not have enough time to work on it, it will be a long term project in my case.
Umm.
I didn't have a clear idea of what had to be done... I would have dedicated some time to this... maybe only a few hours a week, but still...

Mixed feelings
Thanks for reporting the news here Mixel.
I think drupal has a big potential for the future but the thought of relying on any current version of it it for a live ecommerce site which needs to be ready from scratch in a couple of months was a bit scary.
So I guess the priority now is to fix outstanding problems with the current site then. I can submit jobs and bids but then don't see anything happening after a bid has been sent in, in fact I can't see the bid that I have made.
Also, the "?" help buttons don't work, and drop down menus keep reverting.

not my priority
Well, I was only interested in pjn development if it goes for drupal. As a researcher the maintaining of the current pjn version is not at all something I'm interested in doing. I may have the knowledge to create a community site for pjn, but don't see my benefit in it, so also that won't be my priority. pjn may be an interesting commercial project, I'm interested in solid web development. Conclusion, I'm off the project.
pjn space
Hi Mixel
think is probably true that we would be better off having PJN related discussions under a PJN specific space, and letting this group become a more open discussion forum for some aspects where we know PJN may be bringing some new - unique advantages / functions to the table. just my 2 cents worth :-) , mark
I'm still in
As there is no interest from the pjn-foundation in drupal any more I'm definitely in for a more open discussion. Maybe we need to change the name or have another group. I'll check with pjn management (to not get into trouble).
I'm still interested in finding a way to have a good frame that allows us to do more than posting. I'm also more interested in a less technical discussion about managing (like with project module) and e-commerce. Like could a combination between the issue posting an a e-commerce application raise project funding? Maybe we need some voting system in it as well, don't have a clue.
I've always been interested in understanding how we could make a better legalize system to support such "more than posting" facilities. I'm not only thinking of payment, in the knosos project of the last 1,5 year we have been looking at networking fasities as well.
well ... my 2 cents ;)
I'm very sad
I'm very sad to hear the management aborted the brand new site project. Can you share the reasons with us?
