This month we're supposed to be covering the topic of Accessibility. Unfortunately, I can't remember who it was that wanted to present on this topic.
If it was you, or you're interested in talking about it please let the group know soon. If for some reason you are unable to that's fine, Dan and I will come up with a different topic and let the group know ASAP.

Accessibility it is!
OK, so thanks to Patrick La Penna we will be covering the topic of Accessibility. Here is Patrick's plan:
"I'm Patrick La Penna, and I work at Grand Rapids Community College.
We've been working through some of our accessibility issues with our website, and we have a third party auditor who is going to give us a report tomorrow on our website. My basic idea for a presentation would cover the basic standards for accessibility, why they're important, common validation tools, as well as what steps we took to fix some of our issues."
Looking forward to seeing everyone next week, and don't forget we usually head over to Winchester for drinks/food/informal conversation afterward.

When I log in as an admin I get this warning at the top of the page

I understand that I'm exceeding some kind of limit and it has something to do with mysql, but I have NO IDEA how to go about fixing it. I've googled the error and other people have had similar problems and it looks like it has something possibly to do with the theme.

It goes in the my.cnf file on the server just find the max_allowed_packet setting and increase it. The problem is with the admin menu trying to set it cached version and its the serialized entry is too large based on your current setting.

Jane, this solution at Stack Overflow worked well for me, but I wasn't on shared hosting. If you are on shared hosting, you may have to see if there is something in their control panel.

Thanks for your response Sam.
Unfortunately, all of these solutions look like foreign languages to me and I'm having a difficult time processing all the information. :(
Plus, I'm having some firewall blocks here at work as I'm trying to navigate MySQL and CPanel.
I think I might have to try to look up the solution at home. It will be easier and a little less frustrating.
