Seattle DUG Meeting February

I have this in my calendar, but I guess it never made it up onto the G.D.O

Do we still want to meet on wednesday the 21st at 6? I think we talked about meeting at elliot bay?

I have a great project for us to work on that would be site specific in a way.

I have started to build a "Book Club" website that would allow users to create their own book clubs, personal libraries, etc... It needs a few more hours of configuration and testing for it to be ready.

Over a year ago I saw that some people in the Mt. Baker neighborhood were creating a "media share", books, dvds, cds,etc. For some reason I think it was in Ruby. Don't know what happened to it.

I've had the idea for a while of making a "tool share" site that allows you to sign up, list tools you're willing to share, reserve tools owned by others, use karma and feedback for ratings, etc. For when you just can't justify buying your own chainsaw.... Perhaps your book club would be a model for that.

I would be very interested in seeing a Library/catalog/sharing system developed. I have used various catalog databases previously, but would love to see something integrated within Drupal that could be used to share books and other media.

The meeting space is a basement cafe adjacent to a lecture room. Access is available from the street or from inside the store. We may be able to use the lecture room if it is not in use.

If you want to play tourist, the bookstore is in the historic Pioneer Square.

hey all:
i'm glad we are starting to meet at elliot bay books, but unfortunately i won't be able to attend next week. I'm going to aspiration tech's nonprofit software summit in the bay area, so i'll be out of town on wednesday.

have fun, and hopefully i'll be able to make the March DUG.
