Simple Drupal 7 instructions step-by-step how to enable a module on a Drupal website

I am brand new to Drupal, and I, and my partner are creating a social media website. I've studied a bunch of videos at youtube on Drupal, and have found them very helpful. However, I now have a stick in the spokes! I've learned how to upload and enable a module from the Drupal.org site to my Drupal site, (Btw, I'm using Drupal 7.19, and am cognizant to look for Drupal 7 version stuff) and all indications are that it is successful. I thought it was even cool that the Drupal site will let you know that there are other modules associated with the one I just uploaded that are required so, I'll upload them as well, again, all indicating a successful upload. Also, once the module is uploaded, whether it is enabled/disabled...and I make sure they are enabled. The specific problem I am having is, I uploaded the Ajax Login/Register module, and again, all indications are that it is enabled, and I have the associated modules I need for it to work however, the Login/Register windows do not display on my main page? Did I miss something? The Drupal.org site appears to be for the advanced user of Drupal because I haven't found any simple instructions of step-by-step i.e., uploading a module and making it work, among other things. The documentation of a module seems to be highlights of is features and advantages from a previous version so...it's telling me that its addressing an advanced Drupal using audience, and not a novice like me? Can you help? Is there documentation out there that you can recommend, that I can go get to help guide me? I thank you in advance for any assistance!

Ok...I found the error of my ways! I just need assistance if anyone can direct me to a comprehensive simple guide on Drupal 7. I've been through the Documentation section but, could not find anything that entails all the tools that a Drupal site has e.g., dashboard, configuration, modules, structure, reports, etc. Then, again, maybe I missed it? Can anyone help?

Can't remove/delete video & can't enable modules

Well, I ‘m hoping someone helps out, I can’t imagine what I am experiencing hasn’t been encountered already so, there must be someone that can help out with a little direction.
One problem is, I successfully uploaded a video to my Drupal 7 site, it plays just fine however, when I went to remove/delete it, the message I get is that it cannot be removed because it is in use.
The second problem is, I uploaded some modules for a template, it shows they uploaded successfully however, when I go to click a checkmark in their associated enabling box, it doesn’t allow it, as if the box is greyed out or smthn? I logged out and then logged back in, no change. I am using the Bartik theme, if that matters? I appreciate in advance if anyone can help?

panopoly

Try using Panopoly, it's like Drupal 7.5. I'm no affiliate but totally recommend getting a free account on https://www.getpantheon.com/ as it has it on one-click install, along with core updates with one-click etc.

Panopoly is a distribution of Drupal and comes with lots of UI goodies which should make your life a whole load easier!

ymmv,

Steve

Is this panopoly a module?

Hi Steve! Is this a Drupal module, this panopoly you speak of? I did look for it on drupal/projects/modules and found it, uploaded it to my site and received this response when attempting to install, "Automatic updating of Drupal core is not supported. See the upgrade guide for information on how to update Drupal core manually."

it's a distribution

it's a distribution of drupal, i.e. drupal + modules. as said, easiest way to try it is through getpantheon.

this group is not a place for support, for that, try here:
