Great stuff, Steve.

I think one of the challenges
I think one of the challenges for Commerce is that its not a click and go system but more a commerce framework that plug and plays with Drupal so it can be so much more than just a shop.
Ive seen several frustrated posters not realising this, although there's a great list of contrib modules around now to compete better.
That's where we come though to build great solutions!
Connections
At the WiredSussex members meetup last night I introduced myself to Tom Bailey who's organising the Brighton Digital Festival. He said he has all the contact details for event spaces, plus mentioned we need to check out the calendar & organisers guide on http://www.brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/ as there's deadlines if we want to get mentioned and be part of the fest, if not in Sept then no need.
Also he mentioned the Blind Tiger next door to the uni which could also be used: http://playgroupbrighton.org/
Nice
Excellent idea Steve. I wish there were more subject-focused DrupalCamps like this. Can't make it for the meetings but definitely interested in turning up for the event.
