So... Up to now we were comparing our Drupal usage portion of recognized CMSes in our top Drupal websites in South Africa, at 8.3% to Drupal usage for all websites internationally at 10.1% and many of us wanted to beat that number... it's not that far behind... but that is not the whole story (is it ever).
Reference the site we already know:

If we wanted to compare apples with apples, maybe we should consider comparing the top South African websites running Drupal at 8.3% with the top international websites running Drupal... at 24.8%! Time for all of us to stop relaxing so much, fit in another three days worth of work each day and get this done ;-) Or, of course, grow the Drupal community locally!

There's just so much to write about these stats! These are really very high-end sites being hit hard as the top visited Drupal sites worldwide. Just see how much more popular NGinX is, how much less market IIS has and of course that massive wedge for Drupal.

I'd have loved for the little virtual machine I placed this site on to run the full 15 000 sites analysis that I intended for it, but I wanted to see statistics earlier and it was taking too long. I'll rewrite the statistics gatherer to use a non-blocking PHP rolling cURL solution when there's time one day, then gather more stats and maybe redesign the site for better presentation. For this iteration I just added a varnish cache on top of the site in case it gets some more international hits or goes viral.
