Drupal Balkan Summit Zagreb 2012 report

This is a report about third Drupal Balkan Summit held in Zagreb in December 2012.

Drupal Balkan Summit in Zagreb was organized by Drupal HR community together with Croatian Chamber of Economy (organization gathering all legal entities engaging in business in Croatia since 1852) and HrOpen (NGO that in 1994 started oldest Open Source conference in Croatia - DORS/CLUC) as co-organizers of the event.

We planned to sell 100 tickets, but ended up with only 80 sold. Because of really big snow storm that weekend only 60 people showed up - which was indeed a huuuge success thanks to major traffic breakdown not only in Zagreb area - this can give you a true color of persistence and commitment of Drupal community. :)

Majority of attendees was from Croatia, but we also had participants from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, France and Bulgaria!

There were 13 sessions: 9 were presented in English in Saturday and the rest in CBSM languages in Sunday. All sessions were recorded (although some of them without sound) and were available on YouTube shortly after the end of the event.

Event had four silver sponsors and one bronze, while tickets were available at low price for only €10.

Unfortunately we failed to gain momentum from the event to increase activity in local Drupal community, although it’s never late to do that.

We don’t know yet where next Drupal Balkan Summit will be held, but, we are happy that Drupal Camp Alpe-Adria in Ljubljana was organized by our neighbours and friends from Slovenia in April this year.
