User group meeting

As discussed in the last meetup: Social meetup Llandogger Trow 18:00 to 22:00

Anybody welcome to turn up and chat or ask about Drupal (or interrogation techniques and halogen ovens, whatever comes up).

No talks but adhoc presentations or demo's around a laptop etc. More than welcome ;)

First session with talks again is likely to be the first on in Sept.

From now on there will will be a social every first and third Wednesday of the month which may occasionally be replaced by some more formal when we get the impetus up (talks etc.)

The default location going forward is Llandogger Trow and default time 18:00 onwards.

Much appreciated if one of the organisers could update the group description.

Reminder

If anyone was thinking of going to the meetup tonight but it's slipped their mind, here's a gentle reminder that it's tonight at the Llandoger Trow, rolling on from about 6pm.

Good turn out and some great conversations

You know when you are in the company of other geeks when you drop your drink (plastic cup) and the conversation turns to how to make drinks anti-thixotropic (yes anti-thixotropic you losers ;)) so that the impact would have kept it in the cup. This was of course all a thinly veiled cover to make fun of me....

I remember the modules Entity Contruction Kit, Relation, Model and FileDepot being recommended/discussed.

Entity Construction Kit providing a UI interface to set up and manage custom entities.

Relation providing an API to map complex relationships to entities.

Model being a showcase example of setting up entities (not to be deployed as is but as a learning template).

FileDepot being a module to add document management capabilities to Drupal including a desktop integration tool.

Talend Open Studio was also mentioned as the amazing piece of Data integration magic that it is (although Personally I still struggle with the UI).

There was lots of talk about Drupal 8.
This is just representative snapshot as there were enough people (including new faces) to split off into smaller groups,

Watch out for some more information on talks soon:
In summary the next lot of talks are likely to be third Wednesday in Sept, held at Sift and including lightning talks (short, sweet and low stress).

Be aware that you will probably need to get your name down to attend the talks, more details to follow in the next few days.

Thanks Chris
