Hi, this is Cliff, first time attendee at the August Seattle group meeting. My first web site is progressing pretty slowly (mostly due to slow client response), and I'm finding myself with some spare bandwidth.
If any of the other noobs at the meeting would like help/collaboration/whatever, feel free to contact me.

Interested
I''m interested in a noob working group, I still feel like one after four years...
Noob Working Group
I would also be interested in a noob working group. I have over a decade's worth of networking experience, but I am still pretty new to Drupal and PHP. A newbie self help group would be great!
I'm in!
I, most likely, will be the noobiest of the noobs and may not be able to contribute too much at first, but I am absolutely interested in joining the working group.
I'd like to help
I'm not an expert by any means (I've been using Drupal for just a bit over 2 years now), but I remember quite well the frustrations I had while learning Drupal, and would be happy to share what I've learned so far and answer any questions I can.
I would be interested
I have been using Drupal for about a year and a half. Be great to join in and learn with others.
Drupal Noob Group
Well, it definitely appears that there is sufficient interest in forming a Drupal noob group. Do you think we should setup a regular meetup for Drupal newbies? Have it take place maybe on the week before the main Seattle Drupal group meets? Or maybe a day or two before the main Drupal group meets? What does everybody think?
Speaking for myself
I'd say that what I'm mainly looking for is somewhere on line where I can ask (or answer) questions, although having a meeting probably isn't a bad idea either. If the Seadug time and place is good for people, maybe the Thursday before that would be good.
Yes to online, no to MeetUp (for discussions)
Two enthusiastic thumbs-up to the idea of an online resource tied into SEADUG. Two definite thumbs-down to the idea of hosting this online resource on MeetUp. I also belong to the Bellingham DUG and their discussions are on MeetUp. It is a royal PITA to track multiple discussions. I see nothing wrong with hosting it on D.O.
I would like to suggest that the noob group meet prior to the main group (a co-working subgroup, as it were.)
Group creation
Sounds like there is enough interest, would people like a separate group at drupal.org, or something else like a facebook group or mailing list?
Please not a Facebook group,
Please not a Facebook group, would be my one request :)
A new Drupal.org group might work, but not sure if they want to have multiple/fragmeneted Seattle Drupal groups there. Maybe create a Drupal newbie group on Meetup.com? That would let us schedule separate/complimentary meetups and have a separate mailing list without conflicting with the main Seattle Drupal group. This seems like a good way to go to me, but if anybody has a better idea, I am all ears.
I think there is some real
I think there is some real value to "conflicting with the main Seattle Drupal group." Part of what makes open source projects / communities work is the visibility that we have into the problems of others in the community. One of those "problems" is what people new to Drupal go through. There really isn't much traffic on this group most of the time and when an interesting issue comes up – like how to help "noobs" get up to speed it really helps to have "olds" available to add some insight (or to see the things that are stumbling blocks for new members of the community).
If this really became a hopping thing we could add a group, but I think there is a lot to gain by keeping it in the community.

Keep it simple I think
I don't think we need extra group or a presence outside of SEADUG. I was thinking this was more of a group of co-working noobs who get together before or after SEADUG meeting, or maybe at worst on another day to share and work together to learn. SEADUG itself already provides a good strong learning base (beginning to advance) in its agendas in my hit and miss attendance experience with the group over the year. As a community I think we should keep that intact. We can even ride on the coattails of the existing co-working hours that SEADUG posts.
I'm with fauxcrye
I'd also like to participate in the group and I think SEADUG provides a good base. I'm sure we could set other events, and I don't see why Q & A sessions couldn't be done here. If there are meetings, which I hope there are, on the same days as the SEADUG meeting would be nice, simply because I come from across the water.
I was talking with Rick after the last meeting about doing other meetings/events for 'deep dive' kind of sessions into specific topics, modules, or functionality. This might be good for this group too.
Same day as SEADUG
I too would prefer to meet the same day as SEADUG. I like the idea of getting together before the regular meeting in the co-working space. How about we start with that, and see how it works?
use stackexchange to get help.
I'd be into a n00b coworking day on Bainbridge Island if others are into it - we could do it at OfficeXpats. Let me know if you're interested!
For getting help with n00b questions I like to use drupal.stackexchange.com - it's surprising how quick the responses can come.
Cheers,
Tobias
My first thought would be to go with what we have…
After two+ years of working with Drupal (in and around the rest of life) I still have plenty to learn – this sounds like a great idea! I'd suggest we build around what we already have. Some ideas (and echoes):
All of these are tools that are well used in the Drupal community. I think by using them we'd be able to both support each other and integrate in with the larger community. That's my $0.02.
