Here's some ideas for future Drupal meetings. They require finding speakers (I have some ideas, but no commitments), or better yet, speakers stepping forward.
Please add ideas of your own and let us know if find the following ideas interesting. If you know someone who could give a presentation, please ask them to contact Boris or myself.
Ideas
RSS Aggregation for Community Building
RSS is being used for building communities. Find a presenter or presenters on the front lines to talk about the good, the bad and the ugly. Presenter wouldn't necessarily have to have Drupal specific experience, so probably combine with an overview of Drupal aggregation modules.
Drupal Performance Management
We have a number of local Drupal shops with experience in larger sites. If there is sufficient interest we could approach them about a presentation or a panel. We might also ask a Drupal.org maintainer if they would conference in remotely.
MySQL Databases
Are people interested in a database night? This isn't directly Drupal, but if your database isn't right your Drupal site is a goner.
Build Your Own Digg/YouTube/Community Portal/...
Do you want to present a site recipe? As seen in Mack Hardy's talk, these kinds of first hand accounts are incredibly popular and valuable to the community. Hearing about what didn't work is sometimes more valuable than hearing about what did! And you don't have to carry the whole session, if you have a short session we can combine it with other talks, as appropriate.
Related but non-Drupal Topcis
What are the group's thoughts on related topics that aren't Drupal specific such as podcasting, videocasting, credit card/paypal/ecommerce, project management? These can obviously be paired with a Drupal specific topic, but do we want keep a pure Drupal focus and leave detailed presentations of these topics for other groups in town?
