At our meeting last night we spent a good amount of time brainstorming about topics to discuss during our upcoming Drupal User Groups meeting series where we will be spending a portion of each meeting discussing ecommerce topics.
This list is what we came up with and you should comment on this post about each one you would like to spend time discussing.

A couple of people mentioned
A couple of people mentioned alternatives to Commerce which might be more appropriate for donations to charities, could we cover those? Also, I don't see anything covering security (e.g. preventing theft of credit card numbers) would that be outside the scope of a discussion on Commerce?
Estimating a store
I've got a client whose site I would like to add eCommerce to, but I don't know how to estimate the cost. Here are the tasks that the site would need to be able to do:
--allow anonymous users to register for free events. Some of these events have unlimited tickets, others have limited tickets. Would like to collect data on the users (name, address, email, phone, how they found out about the event, etc.)
--allow users to make donations, both one-time and recurring
--allow users to purchase items from a very small online store (less than a dozen items.)
--allow conference/wedding attendees to register for a conference/wedding, filling out information about themselves (name, address, room choice) and paying for the room. It would be ideal if a person could pay for other people as well.
--relevant data would be imported into Salesforce
It would be ideal to structure this in phases, i.e. allowing users to make donations would cost $x, adding the ability to register for free events would be an additional $y, etc.
