Want to help contribute to the ongoing development of interesting mapping tools that work with Drupal? The Location and Mapping group is soliciting for user stories to help guide feature development.
What's a user story?
User stories are short descriptions of actions/bits of functionality that are non-specific in their implementation, but provide a sense of what's valuable to people who use our tools/code. Good user stories tend to take on the pattern...
As a [type of user], I want to [action], so that [description of value].
For example, if I were designing an online game, a good user story might be "As a register user, I want to create a new game by inviting my friends by email, because it would allow me to play the game with people I know already." This doesn't lay out the technical details of implementation, but gives a rough idea of what's important to implement.
Why not ask for feature requests?
Asking for specific features tend to lead towards choosing specific technical implementations before we have a good overall idea of what needs to be built. It also helps keep technical detail bike-shedding down to a minimum early in the process.
How can I help?
Go to our user stories landing page and check out the instructions there. Vote for stories you'd like to see implemented, and create new stories to fill out the gaps.
Also, if you have any ideas/suggestions for improving the group overall, please get in touch.
