Start:
2009-12-15 19:30 - 22:00 America/Los_Angeles
Event type:
User group meeting

More details to come, but our venue sponsor Causecast.org has agreed to allow LA Drupal a night of celebrating. Every monthly meeting is a celebration of Drupal, but for December we will be celebrating our local community - so if you would like to help sponsor drinks, raffle prizes, and/or food then please contact the LA Drupal organizers for full details.

For this end of the year meeting we will not have any formal presentations, but instead only 5-minute Lightning Talks: come show off your latest favorite module, show off your latest Drupal work, show off a site you cannot live without that runs on Drupal. People who finish on time get an extra raffle ticket for Drupal related prizes.

We do not plan to have formal setting available as the entire night will be filled with music, networking, and our random 5-minute Drupal Lightning Talks, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Invite your co-workers. Many regional Drupal groups are invited so expect a good crowd.

When? Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 - 7:30PM-10PM
Where? 1558 10th St. (Unit D), Santa Monica, CA 90401

RAFFLE EVERY HOUR OF THE EVENT FOR ATTENDEES

More details TBA.

LA Drupal & Causecast.org helping "StandUp For Kids"

Chris Charlton's picture

LA Drupal meets monthly, and for December we will not being taking formal presentations but instead celebrating the end of 2009, the end of Drupal 5, and the upcoming release of Drupal 7!

As with every LA Drupal meeting, we have Drupal related prizes to raffle away. Every attendee has a chance to win. This month we will be giving away extra raffle tickets to those who are able to bring donations for those less fortunate. Instead of toys-for-tots, we will be helping "StandUp For Kids", which is a non-profit charitable organization helps homeless and at-risk youths age 21 and younger.

Please, if you can, donate either a sleeping bag, pairs of heavy duty socks, or travel size toiletries. Extra raffle tickets will be handed to those who bring either of those items.

StandUp For Kids supplies basic necessities such as food, clothing, and
personal hygiene, in addition to a wide array of services, including
assistance with housing, education, vocational development, counseling,
health and medical services, transportation, and legal assistance. Laundry
services, hot meals, mail and message services are also available in our
programs that operate an Outreach Center. An Outreach Center is a safe place
where homeless youth and street kids can relax for a few hours. Services
vary by program but generally an Outreach Center offers laundry facilities,
showers, counseling, computer/internet use, etc.

StandUp For Kids helps homeless and at-risk youths age 21 and younger.
Everyday homeless youth face obstacles that most of us cannot comprehend.
Where will I have my next meal? When can I shower? Where will I sleep
tonight? StandUp For Kids helps homeless youth tackle some of their everyday
obstacles and work towards a life off the streets. From basic necessities
such as food, clothing, and hygiene to resources for housing, employment,
and education, StandUp For Kids counselors use an open, straightforward and
caring counseling approach to help kids reach their full potential.
