Hi everyone, there's a few people that have been trying to organize a location for Drupal Camp 2010. So far, we have it happening sometime in May, most likely Thurs/Fri May 28-29th.
Anyway, we have been investigating Venues, but haven't had a good fit for our criteria, so I would like to ask if anyone has some ideas about venues if they could email me at phillip [at] agentic.ca, especially if they have some ideas around getting a venue donated.
Here's our criteria:
1) Space for about 200 people
2) 4-5 breakout rooms for about 30-40 people at once
3) Awesome wifi
4) The ability to bring in catering. Many places have exorbitant catering, so we would want to have our own choice.
5) A large room for the opening voting etc.
6) Close to major transportation, skytrain, bus etc.
7) Cheap-ish! We can pay, just not a lot.
We have pinged:
SFU Downtown
Woodwards building reno
CBC building
Some places we'd thought of but not contacted
SFU Surrey
BCIT
Let me know if you have ideas and especially if you have contact deets!
Thanks,
Phillip

Camp vs. Summit
Hi Philip -
I'd been meaning to post on here and ask about this, since nobody on IRC seemed to have heard one way or another, but I guess this answers my questions about whether or not the DrupalCamp Vancouver plans had been modified in order to host the next PNW Summit in the fall.
I know you weren't at the Summit, and so missed out on this discussion, but I had assumed Dale had filled the rest of the DCV organizing committee in on what was discussed there, which was essentially that Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland would take turns hosting a slightly larger regional event each year so that each city only had to manage organizing the event every three years.
Basically everyone at the Summit (including camp organizers from the other cities + some others from Montana and Idaho where the groups are much smaller) thought this was the best idea since sliced bread, and it seemed quite likely that Vancouver would be the ones to step up and host next (Fall 2010), since there was already some camp planning in the works.
I'm wondering if there was a discussion about this, and what the rationale is for not sticking to this plan?
Hoping someone can fill the rest of us in! Thanks. :-)
Summit
Discussions have taken place and it's safe to announce that Vancouver will be holding the 2nd annual PNW Drupal Summit in the fall, likely early October. Details to come…
