Hello!

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi there. I'm a rising Junior at Rice University and I have recently gotten into Drupal. I am using it to create a new website for the Student Association. The site should be up and running in the next few days at http://sa.rice.edu . I might be interested in a Houston meetup of some sort. There are plenty of good places to meet on campus if people are interested in that.

SA site looks very nice

I wish we had the course reviews when I was in college...

I am so thrilled to learn that Hooters gives Rice students a 20% discount. That may be the funniest thing I have ever heard.

So anyway... your site looks very well organized and useful. I may have to ask for advice in the near future :)

I am working on a couple of sites that have some slightly more complicated catalog features. My fav Art professor used to say, "When you need a skill, you will learn it." I find that to be very true!

That's actually the old

That's actually the old site, which I have had little to do with. It is custom code running on Cold Fusion and Fusebox, some old proprietary framework on top of CF, and is plagued by internal problems. I'll let you know when the Drupal site is up and running.

I guess I didn't look too closely, huh?

I was distracted by the Hooters discount... obviously

I would be up for a meetup

I would be up for a meetup at Rice, definitely. We should probably set up an agenda this way more people might show up.

  1. Integrating Flash
  2. Marketing your Drupal skills
  3. Training end users on Drupal
  4. Preconfigured Drupal installs ( I saw a post on the Drupal site about this: http://drupal.org/project/Installation+profiles)
  5. Favorite modules
  6. Favorite themes
  7. Your suggestions!?!?

I think with this list there is plenty of material for at least 4 or 5 meetups to get the ball rolling...

Shawn

Let's do it

I think we could all benefit from some conversations about those topics. Training end users is great! I am dealing with some very non-technical people on some of my projects.
