For the month of January, IE Drupal steps out of the Drupal box to discuss topics that are important to the greater Web! Can't make it to Riverside? No worries, this will be broadcasted live. We'll post a link in the comments, so stay tuned!

Passwordless

presented by Scott Motte

Scott Motte of SendGrid talks on deprecating the password. Learn about an alternative authentication system that is passwordless and uses email only. See a live demo of it in action and how easy it is to potentially add to your next app. Make users lives easier and more secure not having to remember a password.

Hypermedia APIs

presented by Helior Colorado

Helior Colorado will elighten us with the concepts behind building Hypermedia APIs, which are really just an evolutionary approach to traditional RESTful Web Services. In this talk you'll better understand HTTP, URIs, and Hypertext, and the original intent behind these technologies. You'll also learn about such terms as HATEOAS, Hypermedia, media-types, self-descriptive APIs, affordances, out-of-band information, and more.

Lightning Talks/Open Discussion

Anyone is welcome to inject topics to discuss or briefly share a spiffy helpful module they came across and would like to share with the group.

A coworking space is a shared working environment. Unlike typical office environments, coworking spaces are usually used by multiple companies and/or organizations. Coworking spaces are great for work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently and end up working in relative isolation. Coworking spaces are places for the social gathering of people who may be working independently, but who share values, and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with like-minded talented people in the same space.

A hackerspace (also referred to as a hacklab, makerspace, or hackspace) is a community-operated physical space where people with common interests, often in computers, technology, science, digital art or electronic art, can meet, socialise and/or collaborate. Please note that “hacking” in this sense refers to “doing creative things with technology” and not “gaining unauthorized access to computer systems.”

Riverside.io is a non-profit coworking and hackerspace located in the heart of Downtown Riverside.
