What Drupal-related subject have you been wanting to learn for some time and are determined to make it happen in 2014? Post your ideas in the comments. If you are familiar with a topic that remains confusing for many and want to de-mystify it, post a comment. We’d like to have 2 or 3 15-minute presentations that can provide information and answer questions to help people make the elusive conceptual leap to understanding a subject.

Temporary venue
I'm told that our usual meeting space at Tableau is not available this month, so we need to find a temporary replacement. If you have a suggestion, post it here or send it to me directly.
Meeting space for January Meeting
If a space is still needed for the January meeting we can offer a meeting space in the NW Worklofts (corner of Denny and Western) that has wifi and should be big enough. We'll also sponsor pizza. Let me know.
Keep Tableau; change date?
Given that a) Tableau's success and expansion probably means more competition for their excellent conference room; and b) the difficulty in finding good alternative venues, I propose that we adopt a meeting-schedule model that adapts to reschedule our meetings to when the Tableau conference room is available. It is not ideal, but IMHO better than the alternative.
Keep Tableau; change date?
Warren - I agree with that idea and it's what we did last time there was a conflict with Tableau's schedule. In this case, though, their conference room is not available for any day in January, so another venue is necessary.
Temporary location for this month's meeting
Please note that this month's meeting will be at Fuse IQ at 3131 Western Ave.
Correction to address
The meeting will actually be held in the Northwest Worklofts Common Area Space, which is where Fuse IQ is. The Common Area Space is in Suite 107 in the main building. The entrance is from outside the building, facing Western Ave. The main address for the building is 3131 Western Ave (corner of Denny and Western).
In 2014, I'm finally going to learn...
SASS. Really.
Towards this goal, I have spent about 10 minutes looking at a program called Scout, which promises to make SASS super-easy. It's billed as an application for folks that aren't comfortable with command-line stuff. (I especially like one of their tag lines: "No developer required.")
It seems like a good app for what it does. I can start a discussion on this, but I will very quickly run out of information, and would look forward to a discussion to discuss the pro's and con's.
SASS slides...
I've still got slide floating around somewhere from a SASS presentation I did a couple years ago. I'm happy to dig those up and do an abbreviated version of that presentation if there's interest.
re: "no dev required" SASS, I would take the plunge and learn the very few command line tools that will make your life easier -- especially when developing for Drupal with SASS.
"Very little developer required," perhaps?
Sass
Sass is exactly the sort of topic that I'm thinking of for this sort of discussion, but here's my suggestion: Rather than having yet another massive overview of everything Sass can do, let's focus on answering Marc's (and others') questions and getting past whatever conceptual blocks are preventing people from getting to the next level of understanding it.
And I'm happy to explain why using Scout is a bad idea. :-)
A great goal!
Sass is amazing. Combine it with SMACSS (http://smacss.com/) and you've got some powerful, concise, modular CSS.
Scout is a good program, it just "watches" your Sass files for changes and compiles it to regular CSS. CodeKit does the same thing, but I believe it's Mac only, and not free. Personally, I don't use a program to do the compiling because I use Compass, so I just open Terminal, navigate (cd) to my theme directory, type "compass watch" and let it go. But Compass is another topic... I just don't want to install an entire program just to watch my Sass files.
There's a new book out that may be helpful, it's a good beginner intro: http://www.abookapart.com/products/sass-for-web-designers. I grabbed a couple of their Resource URLs for you:
One last tip-- if you use Sublime Text as your editor, be sure to install the Sass package so all your syntax will be pretty. :)
I'd be happy to run through a
I'd be happy to run through a quick way to get SASS running on anyone's machine (mac or pc) and some good beginner tips to make it a set and forget type thing. I've switched to using Guard to run live-reload and compass and it's been a game changer for productivity, yet once setup properly very easy to implement (not to mention makes collaborative coding much easier).

Coworking
Urban Oasis Cafe is the closest and looks pretty good. I haven't been to it, but I'm inclined to suggest that coworking be done there. Any other opinions?
My 2014 resolution...
... is to (finally) write automated tests for any new bit of functionality I add to a site.
My 2014 resolution....

For exact location of the suite: Go the main worklofts building, same as where the Boat Street Cafe is. Walk on the sidewalk along Western Ave, heading north. Look for the suite on your left with door facing the street.
Coworking....
Has there been a consensus reached on the coworking spot? I'm presuming it's Urban Oasis, but if that's not the case please post what's been decided.

I'm at Urban Oasis right now. The barista told me the place is closing at 3 PM. We'll need to relocate to another venue.
New cowoirking location
Jeremey,
I called Belltown Cafe & Market but their Yelp tel# doesn't work.
Can you check it out and report back?

I checked out Belltown Cafe
I checked out Belltown Cafe and Market. It's a market with a smallish dining area, so not the best suited for several folks co-working. I'm currently at Uptown Espresso (Queen Anne Ave and Mercer St). Very decent place.
Coworking moved to Uptown Espresso - Lower Queen Anne

Two other locations didn't work out.
Not a bad choice
I live in the neighborhood ... not too far from the meeting. They have some larger tables and tend to not be too crowded with folks on their laptops despite the size of the business. They offer the largest amount of space I can think of in lower queen anne.
