The next Ann Arbor/Jackson meeting will be held Thursday 31May07 at 7pm. dhovey has reserved space for us in Wolverine Tower located at 3003 South State Street. Wireless is available. Park in the back as that will be the fastest route to the entrace we will be using.

With so many newbies in the group, I think it makes sense to have a contributed module tour. I am prepared to tour the modules listed here. If you are particularly interested in a module that is not listed, post a comment and maybe we can include it. I would love to hear about the Ubercart module.

Apress has donated a copy of "Pro Drupal Development" to the Ann Arbor Drupal users group. I will bring it to the meeting (31May07) to present to one lucky soul. Hope you can make it.

dandiebolt gets free book

Michael Hofmockel's picture

dandiebolt took the "Pro Drupal Development" book. These books are provided from Apress in exchange for reviews. We can have one book at a time and if we fail to write a review we will not be provided with future books. So when dandiebolt is finished with his review I will open up this option to another group member.

Apress also offers a 25% discount on book purchases to Ann Arbor Drupal group users. Just use my contact form and I will help you get the discount - mhofmockel@drupal.org

Look for the signs...

I am looking forward to meeting everyone tonight. In case you are worried, the air conditioning is working in the building. The building is locked after normal business hours, so it is important to follow the signs I will have posted to the side entrance on the north side of the building. From the picture below (see post), the conference room is on the Northeast side of the building to the right of the words 'HIGH RISE'.

How'd the meeting go?

Sorry I couldn't make it, if it would have been in Jackson maybe, but AA was too far for my time frame yesterday. I really wanted to see the presentations on the listed modules too. Did anyone create webcasts of it?

See you next time.

Meeting Summary

Michael Hofmockel's picture

Attendance: ~10 (I suspect there are more A2 Drupal users who have not heard of our group yet)
User scope: Newbie - experienced Drupal programmers - representatives from the Linux Box

Thanks dhovey for securing space to meet and snacks.
Briefly talked about the need for a regular meeting location and time.

Briefly talked about meeting format. Michael Hess suggested we have a 45 minute presentation along with an hour of work time. I second this idea. This brought up the importance for internet access at a working meeting. Michael Hess suggested we meet on campus where he can provide internet access.

dandiebolt took the free "Pro Drupal Development" book. http://groups.drupal.org/node/3982#comment-12941

We covered about 12 modules. The most questions were generated about the Organic Groups module.

Had a short discussion on importing content (data) into Drupal. Some solutions mentioned where CCK import function, Import/export module, and the example in the "Pro Drupal Development" book (api function?).

mikejoconnor suggested the hook system (building a module) as a topic for the next meeting.
