Drupal Bristol website (discuss)

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Who is interested in getting involved with a separate drupalbristol website?

The twitter account is beginning to get some traction, with increasing numbers of devs and agencies following. The Bristol Drupal community should have a separate website, especially now that the Bristol digital and creative community has grown to effectively form a triangle with London and Manchester.

I am not suggesting getting rid of this group, but more somewhere where we can experiment with Drupal 8 and some content etc. that will be more relevant in the real world.

A chance to do some work with Drupal 8, guest blog, learn D8 themeing, experiment with contrib. modules etc. probably starting with the first beta release (chasing head would break the site almost daily so need a sensible reference to start from).

I picked up the dns for drupalbristol.info and drupalbristol.co.uk just now and have a server we can start on (I can't provide command line access unfortunately as there is something else on there). Suggest we can keep source on Github and create accounts on the Drupal site for participants etc. possibly manage tasks on Trello?

Keen to discuss further at next Social meetup.

Any interest, ideas suggestions?

A forum

I think a really good forum would be the most useful thing.
Maybe using discourse -- http://www.discourse.org/

And a list/map with all the drupal devs (agencies, freelancers, etc) on it would be nice.

I like the idea of a list/map

I like the idea of a list/map of Drupal devs! + 1 for that.

Discourse looks great btw.

We tried a similar thing

We tried a similar thing (with www.drupalcities.co.uk) a couple of years ago, but it fizzled out.

It wasn't enough of an improvement on this site to make people go there instead.

Hope www.drupalbristol.co.uk fares better :)

Wrong URL

Actually it was http://www.drupalcities.co.uk we did.

Doing one as an exercise in Drupal 8 might be worth a go.

Oh yes that was the one.

Limited scope initially

What I had is mind initially was a 'kick around' in Drupal 8 for some of the Bristol Drupal group, hopefully with potential to grow into something bigger in the future ;). Initially going to be hampered by lack of contrib. modules and distributions.
