About Drupal Development Best Practices

This one-day workshop gives you a comprehensive tutorial on the right way to manage your Drupal website. You'll learn about version control for your code and ways to manage changes in your data. You'll also see how the Features module can enable you to keep your configuration changes in version control.

We cover industry-approved deployment strategies that let you move smoothly through development, testing and live environments. You'll get a high-level overview of how to modify the way your site looks by sub-theming, preventing hours of frustration should your original theme be updated.

What you will learn

  • Using version control with Drupal;
  • Maintaining development, testing and production environments;
  • Managing configuration changes using the Features module;
  • Creating a basic sub-theme;
  • Creating a basic module;
  • Understanding Drupal’s API and the hook system;
  • Using Drush, the command-line power tool for Drupal;
  • Dozens of tips, tricks and stories from the developers at Exaltation of Larks.

The exact location of this training is TBD. Stay tuned to this training page and to @LarksLA on Twitter for exactly where this training will be taking place.

Previous experience using Drupal, and an understanding of nodes, comments, blocks, modules, themes, custom content types, fields and views. Introduction to Drupal by Exaltation of Larks and Drupal Site Building from Exaltation of Larks, Chapter Three or Acquia satisfy this requirement.

This Drupal Best Practices training course is definitely a must attend. The trainers were extremely knowledgeable and always happy to help and further elaborate on any given topic. I can guarantee that the discussions will keep you completely engrossed and that you will learn a lot.

Exaltation of Larks gave a compelling class managing to balance the interests and needs of both beginning Drupal designers and the more experienced programmers in the room. The conversation was lively and varied, yet the presenters kept to the course outline.

The result was an informative session where students were comfortable both asking detailed questions and sharing their solutions with other students. All in all a great value for the cost of the class. Thank you.

Hi guys...trying to sign up for the earlybird discount listed here and it's not going through.
Can someone give a hand?

When I entered the code, it said it was expired?
(editing to add that I first attempted at 4PM today, and it's now 7:50PM on March 1 in Los Angeles...even though the timestamp shows March 2)

James, I'm sorry that the 50%

James, I'm sorry that the 50% coupon code expired today (March 1st).

I'll follow up with you separately to talk about the training options at this year's GLADCamp.
