Let's get ready for Seattle's 2007 Drupal Summer Camp. At our last DUG meeting, we discussed a couple of topics about Camp.

Possible dates:

  • June 15, 29

Possible locations:

  • 911 (Shawn)
  • CHAC (Shawn)
  • Hugo House (Gregory)
  • Seattle Library

Contacting Drupal Business who may want to participate and sponsor:

  • DigitalAid (Robin)
  • Bryght (Gregory)
  • Rain City (Gregory)
  • Crafty Space (Gregory)

If your name is listed above in parathenses, then you are responsible for contacting the appropriate people to see if they (or their locations) are available. If for some reason, we can not find a suitable location for the June dates, let's plan on trying for some dates in July.

This is a one day event with two tracks: developer and super user/administrator.

We have not specified exact hours yet.

We need to consider hospitality (like offering water or snacks to participants), and how we might handle lunch and an apres-camp get together.

We also need to promote like mad if we want people to attend in June. Are we sure we really want to do this in June? It doesn't seem like enough time.

If you want to

  • give a talk
  • suggest a talk
  • help organize

please add comments to this post.

I thought I might do a talk about the Import Export API, but it is such a bugger. I'm still figuring out how to use it. I am happy to give a talk on the developer side, and I'm thinking maybe I could do a basic one about Forms API or about hooks in general (how to get started that sort of thing).

What do you want to do?

I'm actually still subscribed to this group, so I saw the post. Cool! June 15th is a bit soon...esp. since nally is planning a cool event on Galiano for June 8/9/10 -- sign up for that group if you're interested in attending.

My interest right now is install profiles. Theoretically I'm going to try and get at least one additional install profile into Drupal 6...but time is ticking! This is something I could talk about....although I'm not 100% firm on how many of us can make the trip.

Our friend Lee of CommonCraft.com is a recent Drupal convert....I'm hoping he comes. He could maybe demo his method for doing screencasts.

We need Two Rooms

We need two rooms if we are planning on the two tracks. I haven't been to 911, but it looks like all they have is the screening room. Do you know if they have another room available?

The nice thing about Hugo House was the connecting rooms. It made it really easy to start as one group, split into two. Still I think Hugo House won't be able to support us as well (wireless issues, and space was a little tight).

CHAC would give us more than enough space. We could start the day as one group in the Showroom, then breakout with one group going to the lower level.

Maybe we should consider other locations where we can start as one group then split into two?

This is great. DigitalAid would love to help sponsor - Let us know what you need. I can't participate on June 15th. I think July might be better but I can try and pitch in on June 29th. I'll check with the other Seattle area DigitalAid folks too.
