Tomorrow, we're hoping to officially announce and open registration for our midwinter "unconference" event. However, we'll still not very united on what to call it.
Ideally, we're looking for a name that:
1) potentially convey the "openness" of the event
2) avoids confusion with TC Drupal Camp
3) Is a little fun.... :-)
Original ideas:
- TC Drupal Midwinter Unconference (not sure that everyone knows what an "unconference" is)
- TC Drupal Midwinter Camp (Don't want to confuse this event with TC Drupal Camp)
In the spirit of brainstorming we've come up with this list to spark your creativity:
- TC Drupal Open House (TC D'OH)
- TC Drupal Day (already being used?)

Personally, I don't mind the unconference label. It's distinctive and intriguing. We could write a fun, one sentence description if that helps people with the concept.
TC Drupal mini conference - basically, says what it is, and is separate from TC Drupal camp. Probably should have Drupal in the title for advertising in other channels that are not drupal-specific.

I'm in favor of something that can be re-used in case this will be a successful event (of course it will!) and we want to do this again. So, it would kinda need to be generic.
I like "TC Drupal Uncamp" 'cos this is not the TC DrupalCamp but it is kinda like it. It might be good to associate the events together for name recognition and trust factors -- plus TCDrupal Camp is sponsoring. The name also smacks of "unconference" a concept with which many people are already familiar and the format we're adopting/adapting for this event. I think we could really run with this idea and make it our own now and in the future.
I also like "TC Drupal Open House" because this ain't a conference and it ain't really a camp. Open House can encompass quite a few concepts and has the "open" part right there in the name. This is the key spirit to this event, open-ness.
That said, I do understand the desire to be cute and unique and I can get down with that if that's what the people want...

Like Barry - I can get behind whatever, however. I was even ok with the initial "Twin Cities Winter Drupal Occasion That Feels Like An Unconference Open House and Very Different Than The Other TC Drupal Camp. Which You Should Also Attend and Support"

Names
A lot of the names we've come up with would be good for the main camp. It's always been cool how there are some unique names out there: BADCamp, Sand Camp, DrupalCorn, etc. It would be fun to have something like that for our camp too.
But I think Barry has a point that we want something that distinguishes this event from the main camp. TC Drupal Uncamp would work fairly well for that, although I like TC Drupal Open House too.

Needed to get the invite out and we didn't have a clear consensus around any of the great ideas that were coming in.
Thanks, much for the ideas. Definitely still open to rebranding this event..... but for now, we got to push forward.
MinneCampolis was starting to get some traction......
