PNWDS - Mid-Late Oct. in Portland

The annual Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit is going to be happening this year in Portland OR [EDIT: they first announced October 17-19; now saying "mid-to-late October]. The Portland crew doesn't have their web site up yet, but they're getting their plans together and have confirmed the date. [Edit: http://2014.pnwdrupalsummit.org/ is the start of the web site with sign-up form to get on their notification list.]

Last year, three of us carpooled to Vancouver BC for the summit (I think there were a few others who got there by other means), and I think we all got a lot out of it. I've been going since the beginning (actually, I used to live in Seattle and was involved in creating the event in the beginning).

It's a relatively small conference (around 150-200 people, as compared to the thousands at DrupalCon), which gives you plenty of chances to meet the Drupal folks from all over the Northwest who will be there, and attend all kinds of great sessions with lots of interaction (which you won't get so much in a huge hall at DrupalCon). Plus, it tends to be fairly inexpensive (about $50 or so for the weekend, plus transportation and lodging) -- definitely worth the time and money.

So, save the date! I know I plan to go... I'm not sure if I can carpool or not this year, though, as I usually have other things to do in Portland when I get there (friends and clients to see, etc.) so I will probably go early or stay late. On the other hand, flights to Portland from here are usually fairly cheap (and fast, 1hr) on Horizon. http://www.alaskaair.com/
