Last OxDUG, a couple of us met up for the afternoon beforehand at Java & Co and worked from there, using their excellent "rolling free wifi with each purchase." Others joined us eventually too, and we ended the day with pre-OxDUG food at Mission Burrito.
Anyone interested in doing something like that this time? It's a bit fiddly for me as I'll need to get a machine with PHP5.4 on it for Tanc's workshop, but hopefully I can spend at least an hour or two there.

With regard to PHP5.4, why not just spin up a vagrant box based on https://github.com/computerminds/parrot ? You can specify versions in a config.yml file: https://github.com/computerminds/parrot/wiki/Configuration
I have a separate box for Drupal 8 play, which works for me.
Yeah, a Vagrant box might be easiest
My current work stack is native LAMP, so I've not required Vagrant; but actually a Vagrant PHP5.3 box might be best, and convert my work machine to 5.5...!

As I live in London, I will likely come down for the day, so will endeavour to get to Java&co for 9.30 and get the nice table (which is at a sensible height) which was upstairs for the day.
As for burrittos, I will prepare my stomach, and stock the car with red bull so I don't go into another post-burritto lull.
