The question of whether or not open-source code is secure, is one that has frequently come up in the world of Drupal. To simply put it, the answer is a resounding yes.
Some the world's most highly secure websites like those of NASA and The White House are actually built on Drupal. In fact the US government has over 150 of its sites run on Drupal while Australia has just pledged to move all of its federal sites to Drupal as well. If Drupal is secure enough for some of the world's most powerful nations, surely the security question can be put to rest.
This seminar intends to expel some of the security superstitions surrounding open-source and Drupal while educating attendees on Drupal’s many high-level security measures including:
• Security features built into the site itself
• Regular patches and security upgrades
• Strenuous testing of all new modules prior to release
• Smaller core code (as compared to other open source CMS systems), leaving less vulnerability
• Track record of extremely low reported vulnerabilities
• A community of thousands of developers that inspect the source code to find and fix possible vulnerabilities
Afterwords we will discuss some of the roadblocks facing Drupal security in the future and how they can be overcome.
Food and beverages will be served as well as a discussion period after the seminar.
Hope to see you there!
