Hi Everyone!
Last week Wednesday when Drupal 7.29 was released to fix the security vulnerabilities described in SA-CORE-003, we attempted to release Panopoly 1.7, per our policy of making Panopoly releases as close as possible to Drupal security releases.
Unfortunately, due to a bug with the release packager on Drupal.org, that release never made it out the door. However, that kind of turned out to be a blessing in disguise because there was a critical regression in Drupal 7.29 that affected Panopoly!
So, now that the Drupal.org infrastructure team has come up with a work around for the packager issue and the Drupal core team has released 7.30 (which fixes the regression), we've just released the best version of Panopoly ever: Panopoly 1.8! :-)
Highlights of this release
- Upgrade to Drupal 7.30
- Upgrade to the latest version of the Media module
- There are no longer any Panopoly Features marked as Overridden after install! Our tests now check for this on every commit that we make, so this problem shouldn't come back in the future.
- Several improvements for accessibility and using Panopoly with the keyboard
- We now bundle the Transliteration module
- It's now much easier to reuse our testing infrastructure in a child distribution. The tests themselves have moved to the new Panopoly Test module.
- Loads of module updates, bug fixes and new tests!

Upgrading
Remember: you have to update the WHOLE profile - not just the individual panopoly_* modules! Otherwise, you'll be missing important module updates/patches, and it isn't guarenteed to work.
For full instructions on how to upgrade, please see the new Upgrading Panopoly guide! (We invite you to help us improve it as well.)
And, of course, you can find links to download, documentation and report problems on the Panopoly project page:

Thanks!
