Can you create a flash player?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I recently headbutted my wife's Cartoon Smart flash tutorials long enough to create two extremely simple flash players: mp3 and flv. If you look in the FLAs, I've limited the actionscript to the bare minimum.

But that's as far as I can realistically go. So, calling Flash devs who might be lurking: express your intent right here. I can handle the review and commits if you think you can improve these players and are willing for your contributions to be GPL and Drupal housed.

I downloaded the FLA's but they won't open in my copy of Flash8 Pro: 'Failed to open document'.
Anybody else experiencing the same?

I just double checked with Flash 8 (I couldn't remember if I'd used my wife's Flash 9) and it seems to work for me.

Try downloading the flv player by right-clicking, save-as this link flv player., just to be certain.

requirements?

Hi, what is it exactly that is required?
I assume the main goal is to be able to configure the player from html/php (so basicly passing those variables to the flv player component as you did)…
In fact, there is no need to differentiate between flv and mp3, the flv player component handles both…
And if you add the skin as a variable passed to the swf, then people can make a flv skin and a mp3 skin (which you provide a basic template skin that they can adjust).

Flash Player

I've created a Flash Video Player which collects information via AMFPHP and the Services Module using the Views service.
I created a Video content type where I could post a video with title and description. I then used the views module to create a view of all posted videos which was called using the views method in the services module. As for the front-end I used the same tutorial as you did and integrated it with AMFPHP using the famous tutorial on connecting flash to drupal by aftermath.
In the end my videoplayer had an flv component to play the video and I created an accordion menu to display the available videos that were posted on the views. The video player will soon be up on www.nexthink.com but I'd be willing to pass you my source FLAs so you can have a look at how I made this possible.
