We have been meeting for over a year, We have had a variety of people coming to the different meetings and we also have reach out to other drupalists around Houston. Meetings are always difficult to attend, but hey! It's Houston and just not that it is the Houston greater area and finding a central place to meet is hard when we are all scattered around. But something that has been clear is the commitment of many of our members either present or not.
We have been talking about ways to improve the community and the Drupal presence in Houston, we know we have great companies using Drupal on both ends, providing services and as Their CMS, we have been looking into moving the meeting around to make it close to everyone now and then, have different events or even a cook out. And something we have been talking about is let's have a great event again.
So let's do it! It is time to think of DrupalCamp Houston or DrupalCamp Greater Houston? I don't know it is just a very exciting idea that needs to be put to work. So that is the reason of this post to call everyone to arms. We would like to start the early stages of planning of an event next year. The idea is that if we want a really successful camp we need to start now and have that successful one in a couple of years.
So, the question is Who is in? Who wants to help? lets start the next meeting by discussing this and give shape to this idea, plan our options and just get the ball moving. We are calling everyone in the community to pitch in, this event may bring several benefits for all the Drupalists in the area, not just the city of Houston but the whole greater area and neighboring areas. Just to put the name of Drupal out there, bring companies in search of developers or looking for Drupal Shops to help with their projects; reach out to universities and colleges to get new talent started; the possibilities are many.
Anyway, lets start, who's in? I am ready to dive full on once we are done with DrupalCon Latin America but we need to start talking now.
What do you think?

It is very nice post.
I'm in favor of Drupal Camp Houston
I started learning Drupal in the summer of 2013. I used to live in Houston for many years (grade school through business school), but now I am 3 hours away in Rockport, Texas.
I've spent countless hours using various websites, both free and subscription based, to learn and improve my Drupal skills. I would like to share what I have learned, share some frustrations, learn some new skills and interact with others in the Drupal community.
I think the DrupalCamp Houston or DrupalCamp Greater Houston idea is a fantastic idea and I will do my best to attend. Depending on commitment and timing, I'd also like help out.
Cheers,
Martin
