In this course you will learn how Drupal works, and how Drupal allows for a rapid-prototyping model of development. You’ll also get hands-on experience and learn key terminology and processes used in Drupal development. You’ll learn about the typical roles in a development process, from site builders to themers. You’ll be better prepared to manage expectations and make decisions about custom versus contributed modules for your project. You'll explore several case studies, and discover how they are relevant to your project. Along the way, you’ll be guided around pitfalls.
By the end of the course, you’ll be prepared to manage your next project in Drupal to gather requirements, assign resources and tasks, and manage a productive schedule. You will be able to:
- Understand all of the key features of Drupal and feel comfortable using the Drupal admin interface
- Know how to scope and plan the development of a Drupal-based client project
- Be equipped with the ability to communicate effectively with developers when it comes to Drupal terminology and site requirements
- Understand the value of the Drupal development community and how it can assist you in successfully delivering a project
- Be able to analyze client requirements and identify custom/user-contributed modules that successfully address those needs
Prerequisites: Familiarity with the web development/software development lifecycle will help you get the most out of this course.
This workshop is intended for project managers with experience working with other platforms, but not Drupal. It provides an introduction to Drupal. “Accidental project managers” tasked with managing a team to develop a Drupal site, but who are not Project managers by trade, will get a lot out of this course.
