We are starting a dedicated group to talk about everything frontend related. Called Frontend United
We've had a few groups in the past that are related to frontend but never a dedicated room to talk about
It's important to clarify why we think this group should exist and why we think supporting the frontend community within Drupal is important.
I think it looks like an intentional silo, and in some ways it is. You could argue that frontend developers and designers would integrate better in the community if we didn't create our own little subset. I think it's better to create a 'silo' for the following reasons:
- The Drupal community is huge and intimidating and if you don't have backend development knowledge it's hard to find your place
- It feels safer, when entering the community, to find a group of people who share the same interests with you and can bond easily
- Getting to know people who do a similar role to you is great! You can learn and share with each other
- Having dedicated sprints labelled 'frontend' is a great call out to those that don't know PHP and don't think there is a way for them to contribute
- The Twig initiative sprints sits within the frontend sprints at Drupal events as it's a good onramp to get people on to more complex, Twig related issues.
