DrupalCon is coming to India in 2016.

Megan Sanicki, https://www.drupal.org/u/megansanicki, Associate Director at Drupal Association, is visiting Mumbai between January 14-18. While the main purpose of her trip is to visit the sites that have been identified in the feasibility study conducted in October and November this year, it is important that she also meets with the Drupal community in Mumbai. Blog post on this by Megan is here: https://assoc.drupal.org/blog/megansanicki/help-us-plan-drupalcon-india

Mumbai is our choice for hosting the greatest gathering of Drupalers from around the world. It is up to all of us to help convince the Drupal Association that Mumbai is without any doubt the best choice for a DrupalCon in India.

A brunch meetup is planned for January 18th, 2015. We currently have two options for the venue.
1. ZoneStartups, 18th Floor, BSE Building, Fort.
2. IIT Bombay, Powai.

ZoneStartups has graciously offered their venue to host this event . They are located on the 18th floor of the BSE Building in Fort, South Bombay. The venue offers a spectacular view of Mumbai harbour and has all the facilities for a great meetup. It also is home to many tech startups, several of them using Drupal. You can find out more about them here - https://www.facebook.com/zonestartupsindia/photos_stream?tab=photos_stream and https://twitter.com/ZoneStartUpsIn/media

Another option is IIT Bombay in Powai, which is also the venue for the upcoming DrupalCamp Mumbai in Feb 2014. The exact location within IIT Bombay is to be determined, but it could be the VMCC http://www.iitb.ac.in/en/about-iit-bombay/victor-menezes-convention-cent.... P Sunthar from IITB is also a member of the working group for DCM2015. This venue is probably going to feature on Megan's site visit itinerary as well. If you have a preference for either location, please let us know by leaving a comment below.

The tentative format of the meetup will be:

11:00am: Event starts
- Tea and networking
- Introducing the Drupal Community
11:30am - Presentation by Megan
12:30pm - 1:30pm - Presentation by Drupal leaders from Mumbai and Pune
1:30pm - 2:30pm - Lunch
2:30pm - 4:30pm - Discussion on topics of interest collated from the Drupal community. Survey to be sent.
4:30pm - Break for tea and networking

Catering sponsor(s) for the event will be announced soon.

Your participation is important. Please feel free to comment and offer ideas on what you would like to discuss with Megan at this meetup and why you think Mumbai makes for a great Drupal community and the perfect choice to host DrupalCon in India.

Need A Location

Being a proud developer from IITB.

Victor Menezes Convention Centre acts as a significant venue where a wide range of conferences and events can be hosted. It has Lecture Hall, Seminar Hall & Auditorium that has been equipped with the latest technical installations with a capacity to accommodate up to 380 visitors as well as a conference hall, where large business conventions can be planned. Mumbai to the Victor Menezes Convention Centre, is well connected to the national and international destinations via the Sahar Airport, which is around 7 kilometers away from the center.

Lets also have organizational heads

Dear All,

I believe having organizational leads talking about state of Drupal within their organization would help give a picture of current state of Drupal community in Mumbai.

On venue, i believe IIT B will be a better choice, but other venue option looks equally good if it has decent seating capacity.

Zonestartups has more than

Zonestartups has more than enough capacity (100+) plus a fantastic location.

Since IITB will already be part of the site visit plan for Megan, and there is DrupalCamp there in Feb also, I believe ZoneStartups will offer a better option, offering a different experience of Mumbai for Megan as well.
