Drupal Jobs ad: ICT Team Leader (Senior Drupal Developer)
Job purpose:
Lead approved ICT projects and provide specialised IT development support for e-Government front office projects within the Drupal environment.
Requirements:
- A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification with 5 years' relevant experience.
Recommendations:
- Knowledge of best practice within a government-specific web environment
- Active participation in Drupal or Open Source communities will serve as an added advantage
Key performance areas:
- Develop and co-ordinate ICT applications and systems
- Develop and maintain web and mobile applications using approved CMS standard (Drupal) including research, site building, module development, integration, theming, testing and debugging;
- Create standards-compliant Drupal themes based on signed-off wireframes and designs;
- Develop and extend modules to implement required functionality
- Co-ordinate and manage the development of ICT architectures and specifications
- Analyse systems including developing Drupal site specifications (e.g. required modules, content types, taxonomy, views, user roles, etc.) to implement information architecture, wireframes and designs;
- Plan for operationalisation
- Use and extend tools (e.g. Git, Features module) to ensure application configuration is managed as code;
- Contribute to the ICT project specifications and ensure that the appropriate tasks are performed at the appropriate level of quality
- Apply and test updates to Drupal platforms and components (themes, libraries, core and contrib modules).
- Test developed solutions to ensure they meet the requirements
Competencies:
- Knowledge in Drupal CMS or equivalent Open Source CMS’s (Joomla, WordPress), PHP, Web standards, Agile, Open source, Databases, Usability, Accessibility
- Knowledge of modern systems of governance and administration
- Knowledge of global, regional and local political, economic and social affairs impacting on the Western Cape Government
- Skills include: PHP, Drupal module development, Drupal theming, MySQL, JavaScript & jQuery, HTML 5 & CSS 3, Mobile, Responsive Design
- Active participation in Drupal or Open Source communities will serve as an added advantage
- Excellent communication (verbal and written skills)
- Ability to work and make decisions under pressure, lead and be a team leader
