Drupal, with its main power coming from its ability to manage content and its presentation, is an amazing platform for making websites - but sometimes our presentation layer becomes our show-stopper. Modern sites, nowadays, are not just static HTML with content, but also platforms for communicating with other devices and systems (such as mobile devices, other sites, gaming platforms, etc). Decoupling the front-end and back-end of a Drupal site allow us to create a "Headless Drupal". This concept allows us to create fast, feature rich front-end web applications by utilizing industry standard JavaScript libraries (such as Ember.js, Angular, Backbone) while still leveraging the power of Drupal.

This talk will focus on using Drupal 7 and Services but concept can still be applied to Drupal 8 development and beyond.

This month's meetup is presented by:

Vladimir Ilic

First introduction to Drupal 6 years ago and, during this time, completely converted; spending days working inside Drupal development on Linux & OS X, open source code, etc. Employed by a big company where he works on creating various Drupal sites.
