What the Job Entails
No single Drupal company dominates Southern California. Our goal is to change that. With almost 30 million people in your sights, the marketplace is yours to claim. As a business development executive, you'll be responsible general sales, new business development, making brand-building alliances while identifying new potential markets.
Business development people are responsible for seeking out new business opportunities for organizations. They develop, coordinate and implement marketing plans designed to maintain and increase existing business and capture new opportunities.
General Sales: Propeople will have some current clients, former clients and inbound leads you can use to jump start your sales cycle. This will constitute a modest amount of your business.
New Business Development: You'll be considering strategies for new business and studying the competitors to identify new business opportunities. Part of your job is to find and assess target markets, make recommendations and execute sales strategy. Seeking opportunities will require you to leave the work desk and meet key industry players. Joining related associations, conferences and symposiums to extend the reach of your network is necessary to explore partnerships and projects to improve profitability.
RFP Responses: Developing proposals in response to requests for proposals (RFPs) is another important aspect of this role. Once new business has been won, you will work closely with other department heads and staff to coordinate account startup and transition period.
Account Management: On occasion you may be called upon to act as a senior account manager for a key client. This is a very small percentage of the position but is sometimes needed to maintain high client satisfaction.
Other: Additional duties for the director of business development will include delivering sales presentations, conducting seminars and participating in meetings with clients, external vendors or advisors. You will be required to travel to visit clients, vendors, conferences and events as needed.

The Interview Process: The first round of interviews will be very short 15-minute introductions. We'll take your resume, cover letter and reference package. We'll review the applicants at the end of the day and email the finalists to return the next day for formal interviews.
The second round of interviews will be a 45-minute interview with two Propeople team members. We'll be asking questions very specifically about your industry and previous projects. This is your time to ask your questions about the position and the company. Please come prepared with your questions. The finalists will be called the next day for a the final interview.
The last round of interviews will take place in San Francisco. A very short list of candidates will be invited to fly to San Jose to see the Propeople office, meet key officers and ask any final questions. The leadership team will meet and extend an offer to the first choice candidate. That person will have 24 hours to make a decision. At the end of 24 hours, an offer will be made to the next candidate.
This will wrap up the interview process very quickly and efficiently. We want the process to be simple for you and for us.
