Dave Hall is a big time contributor to Drupal, the author of some of the most famous modules like WF Tools, Jenkins API , GitHub API and many more. You can checkout his Profile here . Like he says, Its his fault that D8 is using Symfony :) He has been majorly involved in getting Symfony components integrated into Drupal 8 core.
