Your job is largely to quarterback big Drupal projects—not so much from a project manager point of view, but as the tech lead who will determine what to build and how to build it based on the planning documents you’re given (or help create.) You’re an accomplished developer at this point, perfectly capable of executing the project on your own, but your role is as much about helping other (more junior) devs up the ladder as it is about getting things built. You might have CTO or COO aspirations some day, but you recognize that you still have some things to learn and need to build a track record of thought, technical, and personnel management before you get to that point. And you're looking for a firm where you can be given that chance, with some room to screw up along the way without getting your head taken off, and find your sweet spot in that grey area with technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership collide.

You’re all about elegant (yet simple) solutions that leverage Drupal in ways that foster efficiency and quality work. And speaking of quality, you’re a stickler for it! Not just in terms of defect-free work, but you like to make sure that the final product is actually useful and usable—not just that it meets the specs. You also understand that HOW you deliver your solutions (in terms of teamwork, communication, and good ol' fashioned customer service) is as important as what you deliver.

The job comes with a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of autonomy and ability to create things and make things happen. You'll work very collaboratively with clients, other devs, project managers, creatives, and even the sales team--helping to come up with better ways to build smarter websites. Unlike a lot of larger operations in which you might be stuck on a 'behind the scenes' project that never sees the light of day, our work is very tangible and public-facing, so there is a lot of job satisfaction in creating a kick-ass website for good causes that people know and care about.

No laundry list of requirements here. If you're the right fit, your work will speak for itself and it will be obvious that you know what you're doing.

Taoti is a DC-based web dev shop. We typically work in Drupal, though we're open to new technologies. The position is full time, in house; however, we have a liberal telecommute policy. It's a fun place to work. Good beer in the company kegorator. We have a boat that we take out most Thursdays. Debates are settled by nerf gun duels. No real dress code. You get the idea. More importantly, we do good work for good people who do good in the world. The majority of our work is for non profits, so it's nice working on causes that matter and help people.

Taoti is the kind of place where so long as you do good work and get your stuff done, you can pretty much operate however you like. We're not into a bunch of rules and policies. Common sense is usually sufficient to keep the chaos in check.
