Friday sprint

Number of issues that can be worked on for Drupal 8 is small, now that we are close to a release candidate. Main question that we need to answer: what are people going to work on during Friday sprint?
Drupal 8 may be in RC, meaning only docs issues, criticals, and "non-disruptive majors" are on the table to be committed. We can't do the same sort of novice tasks as we have previously if this is the case.
core commit policy for RC: https://www.drupal.org/core/dev-cycle#rc

Possible options:

  • major triage (advanced task)
  • manual testing
  • documentation
  • documentation translation
  • migrate issues (migrate is marked as experimental module, patches allowed)
  • porting contrib to D8. We will call out contrib maintainers and ask if they can use help from first-/newcomers. This is a different task from "regular" porting contrib sprint, that will happen in the main room on Friday, and needs separate instructions for participants.
  • drupal.org issues (Drupal 7)

The list is far from being final, we will have a brainstorm on other options, and invite as many stakeholders as we can: core committers, contrib maintainers, DA people.
@xjm suggested that we go from uniform structure (all tables do the same type of tasks) to topical tables with leads. Possible topics can be certain contrib module(s), mobile, accessibility etc.)
migration testing

Regarding issues to work on,

Regarding issues to work on, we still have this issue for updating all of Classy's template comments. https://www.drupal.org/node/2430381

That is something like 100 novice issues that can all be worked on after RC.
