We held our Broward Drupal monthly meetup on Wednesday, September 9th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Remote participants from farthest to closest (via Skype and Join.me):
Jacksonville - Rick Esser
Tampa - Cynde Mercer @cyndemercer
Miami - Ron Norman @rnorman489
In Person (Greater Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Florida):
Allan Reed @radiantnexus, Jay Epstein @jeppy64 and me @hectoriribarne
This month Allan Reed (@radiantnexus, http://radiantnexus.com) talked about Building a Dev Environment at Home. Allan walked us through architecting one's infrastructure at home (computers, servers, switches, routers, etc.). He covered virtualization, using a headless Linux server, mixing in a NAS, backing up and data recovery, and using DDNS (Dynamic DNS) for anywhere access. This setup was tested on RedHat/CentOS/Oracle Linux.
He also covered setting up one's Drupal environment, including deploying a site quickly via Drush and bash, backing up using bash scripts, and making it all work with cron.
The presentation slidedeck and script files can be found here (retweet if you like what you see): https://twitter.com/BrowardDrupal/status/644179002589102080
We had three remote participants via Skype/Join.me and three in the meeting room.
