I am definitely open to it, but it would need to be more than just me and you. It is kinda pointless to create a slack group with only two people hehe. I am waiting to hear interest from others.
I've been following the discussions but with the change of location for the last couple meetups I couldn't make it to HWT. I still think we need more collaboration out here but I'm wondering if our group isn't too narrow? Would you guys be interested in something that encompasses more than just Drupal? I'm thinking of a more inclusive 'creative' meetup where developers and designers can come together, solve problems and learn from each other. My hope is that something like that could possibly grow into a non-profit coworking space with more regular meetups. What you think?
Great. I went ahead and created https://drupaljamaica.slack.com . I definitely don't want to restrict it to just Drupal talk. I know @adrian1231 has shared some of the awesome stuff he's doing with Node js and Angular. I'd love to have a space to discuss more than just Drupal. Please send your email address to me using my contact form so I can send an invite to our slack group. I think I've sent one to most people in this thread except @dcornwall because I couldn't find an email address.
Anyone know of any local web/graphic design groups? If not let's at least try to compile a list of names and emails for talented designers we can reach out to for the next meetup. Same goes for other developer groups (or individual developers) that may be interested in start-ups.

Hello all,
just touching base to drop some info here. There is currently a Govt. supported effort to create a Startup Registry. It will be launched in the next couple of weeks. The purpose of the registry is to create a place for people\companies\investors to go and find startups and also a place for startups to go and register to be found.
This concept, albeit simple was never done before and Govt is looking to boost engagement and interaction with the budding ecosystem.
It would be great to have a similar registry for developers, designers etc as well....
If anyone in the groups would like to start the ball rolling on creation of such a registry please linkup as I will ensure full Govt. support for such a thing aslong at is keeps to certain basic tenets.
@trevor - Great to hear the government is trying something re startups. Just like a startup, the initial plan for a registry may not work as expected but you've got to start somewhere so I'm on-board an will add the projects I'm working on as soon as it goes live.
Re the registry for developers, designers etc - What if it was included that in the idea I stated above for a non-profit coworking space? With a space that has regular meetups among other benefits, we could give users the option to make their profile public and that would serve as a registry. For this to work we would naturally have to have a free tier that includes the basics such as being able to attend meetups and being listed in the registry.
Let me know if this sounds like something you think the government would support and we can discuss further.
OK yea, so anyone who wants to join just DM me your email address. For those who are already on Slack, let's start by adding a list of the designers we know want to be a part of this thing(I created a #designers channel). Email your designer friends and ask if they want to be on the list, if they want to join the convo on Slack we can add them as well.
