Day of Mobile (www.dayofmobile.com) is an all day event for mobile developers and enthusiasts that will take place at IIT on March 6, 2010. The overall goal of the event is to better prepare both Chicago's application development community and companies with mobile initiatives for the upcoming mobile revolution. We will cover a myriad of different topics relative to mobile development and strategy such as platform SDKs, cross platform development, multimedia, CMS/SMS, mobile business models and many more. The event will begin with a breakfast at 8AM and conclude after a keynote speech and hackathon awards ceremony at 4PM. Throughout the day, there will be talks running concurrently with one another in two adjoining ballrooms.

NOTABLE SPEAKERS:

  • Jay Freeman (KEYNOTE) is one of the most established developers in the mobile community. He launched The Cydia Store, an alternative to the App Store, out of frustration with Apple’s policies. Jay has been either written up or mentioned in just about every periodical that has to do with mobile development including Wired Magazine

  • Bob Martin was the keynote speaker at SCNA 2009 and is a pioneer and published author in the area of Agile development.

  • David Whatley was the keynote speaker at 360idev and currently has one of the top games in Apple's iPhone App Store (geoDefenseSwarm). GeoDefenseSwarm was also listed as one of the top ten games of 2009 by Time Magazine

10 other speakers will be giving talks. See their bios/abstracts here

HACKATHON:

Aside from the main talks, we will also include a hackathon where developers can form teams in advance of the conference and compete for awards by developing mobile applications. The contest winners will be named at the end of the day, right before the keynote speech. You can build your mobile application in advance of Day of Mobile (the application cannot be publicly available) or develop the application on site. The hackathon will be judged by a panel of mobile development experts led by Peter Morano of KeyLimeTie. Sign up either as team or as an individual and we can match up up with a team the day of the event. Hackathon members will receive a 50% discount of the conference admission price ($19.95).

COST:

Sign up today for only $39.95. We are also offering a student discount ticket price of $29.95 if you bring a student identification along with you the day of the event. Registration for the event is at http://techinthemiddle.eventbrite.com/.

I thought that this is some

I thought that this is some sort of annual conference and was ready to attend it in 2011, but after a little research I have understood that this one was one time meeting? The link in your article now goes to "Tech in the middle" and there are no words about day of mobile except the last one in 2010 March... If it is right, then I am really unhappy to miss such an opportunity to meet some nice people well known in the mobile development world. As it was pointed out, the mobile revolution is coming so this topic will be hotter and hotter with every single year. We have four major mobile platforms: Android, iPhone, Blackberry and Windows mobile so it will be really interesting to look at the competition between these mobile giants. I will try to check for this event in the next year too. Maybe it will be organized again. Thanks!
Regards, Paul from mobile development
