FINAL REPORT OF DRUPAL TRAINING FOR WOMEN IN DRCONGO 2017

We organized during 2 days on 25-27 September 2017 in Kinshasa, the capital city of democratic republic of Congo, a Drupal training for women.

The program aimed to enhance drupal’s skills and knowledge among women developers, digital content managers, digital journalists, students, researchers, IT, engineers and scientists in democratic republic of Congo. The program focused to provide theoric and practical skills on Drupal.

TRAINING CONTENT

Training topic included : CMC tools, web application development with
drupal, community building, CMC managment with drupal and hackhaton.

ATTENDEES

Total number of attendees : 50 women.
50 women participated in the event during 2 days training. 15 women were students from various universities in Kinshasa and other regions of DRCongo, 5 scientists, 10 local journalists, 1 researcher, 5 women active at DRCongo Science Networking and 4 engineers from Telecom operators and 10 independant women developers from various organizations.

FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES

During 2018, we organized local Drupal meetups and small meetings across different regions of the democratic republic of Congo. Some women, who have participated in the Drupal training in 2017 have been invited to join the Drupal meetups and meetings finally help us evaluate their skills and knowledge.

SPONSORSHIP AND SUPPORT

We received 1000$ grants from Drupal Association.

The funds has been spent as follow :

-Location of training rooms 270$ X 2 days = 540$
-Foods/Drinks of participants : 200$
-Communication/ Outreach : 160$
