Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi Guys, i am planing to organize a Drupal Training for CBOs in West Nile and specifically Arua Town.

I am therefore requesting for those who would be interested in such a venture to get in touch with me or Katerega and we see how we can organize it.

I am thinking of having another Drupal User group based in WestNile soon. But we need to first create need and awareness about easyness in use of Drupal among potential users in the future.

I need Drupal Instructors who can teach the Audience Drupal Site Building. We need to get these CBOs online at the end of the Two Days Training.

Dates Will be 1 and 2 November 2019.
Venue: Arua Social Center.

All those interested in participating in the training, please get in touch with me.

Hope to hear your contributions soon.

You probably need to start

cavinm's picture

You probably need to start with what will be covered (topics), set a date , venue and then you start marketing it. Am not sure what type of feedback you expect from here. You asked if anyone is interested, well interested to do what exactly. If it's attending the training , then will be lucky to get more than 2 people from here.

Trainings are not easy to sell, especially for a niche product like Drupal but good luck.

Hello cavinm, thanks for the

Hello cavinm, thanks for the suggestions. Have updated the post. I actually need people who want to grow our membership in Uganda and it is going to be a free training.

A great Journey begins with a step forward.

Hi you have to define the

soulsesa's picture

Hi
you have to define the target audience!
high schools?
developper anywhere?
Organization?

fix a date for the event

and set up your programm: one day or two days?

evaluate the budget to succeed the events (probably where to find resource).

communicate on the events to attract people

if you are starting,
I think people must know first what is drupal!
so befor start a trainning you must sensitize and inform about drupal (a kind of panel).

but if you already have a little community, you can do free trainning for the members and communicate on it on media and on social network.

Arua is a hard paper, I will

Arua is a hard paper, I will wait for Uganda Airlines to put a route there, these buses of wakanda are a story for another day. please include the training agenda, that way i can market it, if you ever think of putting the training in Entebbe , I can provide a free venue.

I havent checked my calendar, if you have an option for remote training, I can train 1 topic either views or faceted search.

Well, i think it is a good

Cameroon

cavinm's picture

it's good Cameroon, North Korea, and South Sudan are interested in Drupal, but it's not related to what is being discussed, that can't be too hard to understand , you can start a new thread if you wish, it's a free world, however it s important to follow a thread and post something related to what is being discussed to avoid wasting people's time with rubbish

poorly educated

Hey guys we are on the same team here, no need for insulting people, better stay quite than putting people down, coz no one knows what can or can't be done in a community where they don't live in.

Meanwhile the training will go on with or without all of our inputs coz its not about us, its about them.

Its about extending the user group and taking the power of drupal to those that need it the most but have no idea where to start.

Update: Moving forward

samatech7's picture

Good Morning Team, Hope the tide settles a bit. I am really grateful for all the ideas forwarded so far. Thanks a lot.

We are meeting today with Katerega, one of our Admins here to discuss the plan for this Training further. And to see how we will run this training successfully. I think in order to Build a vibrant User group there, we need to generate demand for Drupal and these CBOs and Local NGOs could be a could place to start from. We will Design free Websites for them and then set up a User group that can provide Support to them.

So please, anyone willing to offer that level of Help is welcome to discuss how best we can achieve that.

We have a draft program already and will share soon.

Any ideas of how best to get the best out of this is most welcome.

A great Journey begins with a step forward.

Drupal Usage

najim's picture

Hello members

I do hope his message is not way too late the for the discussion i have been browsing around groups trying to find how i can push Drupal CMS usage in our beautiful country Uganda.

I don't know if the training in this thread really happened but am personally also interested in building a vibrant Drupal Uganda community and together as a group we do much, this discussion was just last year and am interested in getting involved in any current ongoing work around the community, hoping to get some response

Hello najim, great to hear

samatech7's picture

Hello najim, great to hear from you concerning this thread. Actually we were unable to conduct this training due to different challenges we faced with Authorities which got solved very late hence impeding our ability to run the training.

I think it will be good if we can meet and see how to re initiate this program.

Hope to hear from you on this soon.

A great Journey begins with a step forward.

Am available

najim's picture
