By now you would be aware that Drupal India Association has been formed(read here https://groups.drupal.org/node/535221). DIA is an initiative to better structure Drupal community and help grow and adopt Drupal in india and take india to #1 position in terms of contribution. DIA board has been meeting to strategize and plan to achieve its goal and have come up with several focus areas. To start with we have identified two key aspects of community - 1) Keep the momentum going in local chapters and regional community through a series of events which local community of the region executes. 2) Focus on contribution to help India take #1 position in community contribution. With these focus areas, we have below proposal
Revamp in Monthly Community Meetups and DrupalCamps
DIA will be working synchronously with all regional Drupal chapters to encourage, empower and assist in conducting regional activities in a more planned way. To start with DIA will work with local chapters and regional leads to help conduct monthly meetups, code sprints, global training days which will occur as per planned frequency.
Meetup schedule - Third Saturday’s every month
All the cities are requested to hold a meetup on the third Saturday of every month. This will help us all defined day and time for monthly meetups and possibly organize some remote sessions helpful for all the meetups nationwide.
We are proposing to organize a meetup, a workshop and a contributions sprint alternatively on the third Saturdays. The following is the proposed schedule:

Annual Drupal Camps / City-wise Drupal Summits
Another key aspect of regional community building is Drupal Camp. At DIA we envision to have more effective camps and this we have come up with a new structure of Drupal camp which makes camp planning, organization, funding and execution easy enough to focus key values a Drupal camp should deliver. DIA will coordinate with regional chapters to help organize the camps in more structures and planned way. DIA has also come up with a timeline for different camps to avoid Date conflict, details of the same are shared below

Our second focus - increasing the contribution and make India as a significant contributor to upcoming Drupal 9 release
. There is already an initiative (read here https://groups.drupal.org/node/535595) to pledge contribution to Drupal 9, we are working with all regional community to kickoff this initiative with global sprint weekend on 25th.
To discuss the above initiatives with all regional community leads, we are scheduling an open virtual meeting on this Sunday and on coming Wednesday. Details of the invite will be updated in this post shortly. We are also maintains a record of regional leads from different regions.
