Demos and discussions: Managing configuration
We will demonstrate and discuss strategies for managing configuration in a Drupal 9 (or 8) project. Topics will include:
- The differences between configuration and content and cases where the distinction can be confusing
- Where configuration values are stored and how to view them, either through Drupal's UI or the command line
- Customizing the location of configuration files in a project
- Ignoring certain configuration (such as webforms) in a production environment
- Using different configuration in different environments
- Overriding configuration
- Triggering notifications, via email or Slack, when configuration changes in a production environment
- Installing a site from existing configuration
- The future of configuration management in Drupal
