Details
The out-of-the-box search functionality built into Drupal is fairly unsophisticated, but there are a number of tools that provide site builders with the ability to construct complex, powerful search features within a Drupal application. We'll look at some demonstrations and discuss strategies for taking advantage of available contributed modules and writing custom code to customize and extend search functionality even further.
Topics will include:
- Search API
- Solr
- Views and using exposed forms for search
- Facets
- Autocomplete suggestions
- Boosting indexed fields
- Searching by proximity to a location
- Writing custom plugins to extend search functionality
If you've built something interesting with search in Drupal, come share it. If you have questions, or are curious about what's possible, join us and find out.
Location
Online via Zoom; the URL for the meeting will be shared in the SeaDUG Slack workspace and with anyone who signs up for the event.
