Early technical evaluation of implementing DabbledB
CivicSpace has begun an early technical evaluation of implementing DabbleDB style Content import, Views, and CCK mapping.
1) It seems possible.
2) The internal data APIs and external data APIs must be made more consistent in order to allow internal mapping and exposure of data to a views layer as demonstrated in the video.

Change in D6
There will be lots of changes to CCK in D6, and of course Views is changing a lot in D6, so you might be better to wait for them. The status/plans for CCK 6.x are at http://drupal.org/node/177892. Plans include an API, so if you have thoughts about that, you might want to chime in :)
I also love the dabbledb demo. Not sure how easy it would be to do, but more power to you!
