The April St. Louis Drupal Meetup will Thursday, April 29, 7-9 pm at the St. Louis Artists' Guild.
The Artists' Guild is located in Oak Knoll Park in Clayton. Enter the park from Big Bend Blvd. about 0.25 mile north of Clayton road, or about 0.35 miles south of Wydown Blvd. Shortly after entering, veer to the right and park in the large lighted parking lot. Walk toward the main entrance, but as you approach, notice there is a side door to the right with a wheel chair ramp. Enter through this side door.

Meeting will be in the conference room on the first floor.
Once inside the building, proceed down the first short hall, make a sharp (hairpin) turn to the right. The conference room is at the end of this second short hall. We'll try to get signs up on the wall pointing to this room.
We will have a projector for this meeting. The building has Wifi, so feel free to bring your laptops.

Beverages and Video Adapters
If anyone coming out Thursday evening would like to bring a soft drink or coffee, feel fee.
If anyone (Joel?) plans to use the projector, bring your own adapter if need be. The projector has a VGA cable, and I usually have a full-sized DVI to VGA adapter in my bag. If you need any special video adapter beyond these basics, please BYO.
Hope to see you all then.
Can't make it
Sorry Jean, I can't make the meetup this month. Have fun without me!
okay
That's okay. Hope you can make it next time. :)
I look forward to seeing you
I look forward to seeing you all Thursday.
sorry
Nice to finally get there, sorry i was an hour and a half late and then only stayed for 30mins.
Cheers,
Dru
How was the meeting?
I apologize for missing the meeting. My wife was at the Jimmy Buffett concert and I had a sick kid.
Anyone care to fill me in?
Thanks,
Michael
Nice meeting
Hi Michael,
We had 4 repeat attendees and 3 new. Jess (from Wash U) and Andy filled us in on what they learned at DrupalCon SF.
Jess showed us some of the sites she has implemented and maintains at Wash U, and showed us some Views tips.
Andy showed us the Aegir interface and told us a bit of how he uses it.
There was some general discussion of Drush with encouragement for those of us not using it to give it a try.
and there was general discussion of various plugins and their advantages and pitfalls. Maybe some of the others can add some specifics.
We plan to meet at the same location in May, most likely on a Thursday evening late in the month. I need to verify availability of the room then will post back.
Meeting time...
Sorry I missed it. Sounds like a lot of great information.
As for the next meeting, I can pretty much do any day except the 3rd Thursday of the month. I have a standing meeting on that day. Otherwise, I'm good.
Thanks again for the recap.
Michael
CCK fields (image thumbnail) in search results
Hi folks,
for those of you who directed me to the "display fields" tab for my content type: I found that, and enabled the thumbnails I want to display under "search", but this made no difference in the display of my search results. I am still getting the standard results: title, snippets, and info, but no more.
I ran cron thinking this might be this issue, but that didn't change anything in my search results.
What else do I need to do to enable this? There has to be a secret handshake I am missing. Do I need to edit my templates?
There's a template for that
I just tried it myself. You're right, the images don't show. Try heading over to your modules/search folder and copying the search-results.tpl.php file into your theme folder. You just need to modify it to include and output the image(s) you want to turn up in search results.
Not that simple
Thanks, Mark. I have copied the template file to my theme folder and edited it some to verify that I have the correct template. (The template file for an individual search result is search-result.tpl.php whereas search-results.tpl.php is the template for the accumulated search results -- so for my purposes I need the file with no "s" on result.)
What I find is that I am able to remove anything that is there (for instance, posted by admin on X date) but I am not able to arbitrarily add things. I believe this is because as the search module is written out of the box, only certain elements are available to the search result.
This post, which is too brief for my current level of understanding of PHP, seems to supply the answer
http://adaptivethemes.com/theme-your-search-results
If that is correct, and if I understand it correctly, I need to add a preprocess function to my theme's template.php file. I have fiddled with this some, and have been able to affect my result to some degree, but don't have it working yet.
need node_load
Maybe someone knows a better way to do this, but I think you're going to need to node_load() to get at the image field.
This works
I got my images to load by following the directions on this post
http://www.ubercart.org/forum/tutorials/15568/i_got_pictures_my_search_r...
I only needed to customize the path to my own imagecache folder, and using my own imagefield name.
I don't know if this is ultimately the best way to do this, but it will help a great deal as I develop the site. I played around a bit with some views filters, that seems interesting... but it is too soon to know exactly what the site will ultimately require.
Confirming this solution
I checked my template file, and this is indeed the solution that I used.... the Ubercart solution, following the initial post at the top of the page linked above. I didn't need to dig into any other discussion further down the page.
I tried to paste my template here, but even wrapped in pre tags some of it gets formatted... not sure why. And it appears I can't attach a zip, either. But if anyone wants it, say the word, and I'll post it somewhere else with a link here next week, after the holiday.
It was good to see everyone last night, another good meeting!
Hey
I plan to start attending but will might not be available late in may. I'm very excited about having some camaraderie
social networking conversion
Who was it from the last meeting who said they had spent too much time making drupal work as a social networking site? We are working on a project for a client, and any thoughts or even a little contract for a simplified UI would be great.
Cheers,
Dru
I was planning on attending,
I was planning on attending, but couldn't make it due to illness. I'll hope to be there at this month's meeting! In the meantime, here's a site I'm wrapping up: http://new.reapteam.org/
May meeting
Hi Jeff, nice site! I'll look that over some more..
The next meeting is also at the Guild; Thursday, May 27, at 7:00 PM. I'll get that posted up front soon.
