Hey Folks,
Our next meeting is October 18. We have had a change in plans just for this month.
We are meeting with the Flex User Group:
http://www.flexilicio.us/blog/index.cfm/2007/10/9/October-18-User-Group-...
The meeting location is different. We will meet at the Adobe Conference Center in Fremont:
http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/maps/seattle_map.html
and specifically:
"Meeting in the Adobe Conference Center, Adobe U III. The Conference Center is the building across the street from the Adobe main building (their main blding is on the water front). Attached (click on the download link below) is a map to the Fremont campus. They have visitor parking available and I will have put up signs with directions on the evening of the meetings."
So the majority of the meeting will be about Flex and Drupal, but we will have some time to talk about the barn raising too. We're thinking an additional meeting just for the barn raising is a good idea, so bring your calendar!
Please post a comment if you plan on attending (there will be food, so we would like a head count). Also if you have any questions, also post to this event.
Thanks,
Robin

October DUG Seattle Meeting
I will be there -- bz
Co-working before?
If we have co-working before-hand, I might go to that, but I have zero interest in Flash/Flex, so I probably will give the meeting a miss this week. Is there a good place to meet for co-working in Fremont? There are several independent coffee shops near Adobe, but I am not sure about wi-fi, space, etc.

i prefer fremont coffee....
I much prefer fremont coffee (across the street) over ladro, but if folks are all headed to ladro, i guess i will probably see you there.
We will take some time out at the beginning of the co-ug to deal with details of the barn raising.

We are at Fremont Coffee...
Across from Caffe Ladro. We were at Ladro for an hour or so, but table space was scarce... there are tables here, not necessarily together...

Nice Intro
I attended the Drupal/Flex UG last night (my first DUG meeting). While not very technical, I thought it was a good intro for people looking into either technology. I am more interested in Drupal, thinking about switching the site I manage to a Drupal framework. I look forward to attending future DUG meetings. Thanks to Ryan Stewart and Adobe for the talk and the Mad Pizza.
The last DUG was an
The last DUG was an interesting meeting. We really had 3 groups of people: Drupal, Flex, and Captivate. One person from each group gave an introduction about their technology. Gregory did a great job discussing Drupal.
I really wanted some clarification on licensing with Flex. As it stands now, Adobe is providing the Flex compiler, framework, and SDK as open source. Flash and Flex Builder are proprietary.
On a more technical note, Flex is just like Flash in that it creates actionscript and provides the same .swf file just like Flash.
When it comes to Flex and Drupal, Flex would be used in place of other templating systems. Check the services module.
