Informal Drupal meetup

Come join us for an informal Drupal meetup in Spokane Valley on Tuesday, May 18th at 2pm at the Wake Up Call on Pines Road.

Ben Kaplan of City of College Dreams (http://www.cityofcollegedreams.org) will be in town for a few hours so I thought this would be a good time to meet up and talk Drupal. I've had the pleasure to get to know him a bit through user groups in Portland and Seattle as well as the recent DrupalCon in San Francisco.

There will be wifi available and hopefully we have a good turnout considering the time of day it's at. If this goes well I'm hoping to get a regular occurring event going during the even some night so more can attend. If anyone has some good ideas as to where else to meet up please let me know.

Sounds great, Jeremy... Looking forward to it! May be we should post this as an event (instead of just a discussion thread) so that people can signup and get sent automatic reminders (via the signup module)?

This is the WUC at 1106 North Pines x Desmet? Many of the web-hosted maps, including the suggested link above, send you to 1106 S Pines, and that's just wrong. Can call them for quick confirmation: (509) 924-7202

Thanks for pointing that out Philip. I called and got their correct address and updated the map link above and on the event I created. Next time I'll just create the event rather than a discussion..first time getting this going. Anyways hope to see everyone there and get to know fellow Drupal enthusiasts in the area. No real agenda but if you have some cool projects you would like to show off or have some questions this would be a great time to share. And the time is now set for 2pm, sorry for the confusion.

Hey there, I am a failry new Drupal user, converted over from years of phpbb and E107. I am excited for all the Drupal has to offer and have started converting or bulding most of my sites through it. I will be able to make the get together. See you there!

Thanks to those that were able to make it on Tuesday. We had some good discussions about clients, projects, and Drupal in general. We also discussed how we should go about getting the local user group going on a monthly basis. The meeting time will be in the evening when more people have a chance to make it and probably in downtown Spokane where more businesses are located. We are looking for some good places to meet so if anyone has any ideas please let us know.

In the mean time we have set up an IRC channel on irc.freenode.net. Log in there and join #drupal-spokane for some Drupal chat. There are usually a couple of us there so feel free to drop in and say hi and help with planning the next meet up. There's also a Facebook fan page set up to help connect more of us in the area so be sure to check that out too.
